A PLAYER who was fantastic for Town as they ended up champions but unfortunately could not secure promotion to the JD Cymru Premier.
Nevertheless, Hughes was a real bright spark in Town’s midfield before departing in January 2020 for Australian side Melbourne Knights.
The former Connah’s Quay player returned to Prestatyn in the summer of 2019 and became an instant hit for the club.
28-year-old Hughes picked up a highly-impressive 18 goals to establish himself as the division’s top-scoring midfielder with one of his best performances coming in a 4-1 win over Corwen, in which he scored all four goals.
After returning from Australia, Hughes made the move to Flint Town United in June 2020. The Silkmen were promoted to the JD Cymru Premier in place of Prestatyn after finishing second in the JD Cymru table in 2019/20.
Now plying his trade in the top-flight with Flint, Hughes has scored two goals in nine matches so far during the 2020/21 campaign, the most recent of which came in the club’s last game before lockdown – a 3-0 win over Aberystwyth Town.
