Tom Zalot (Llangoed)
Easily the signing of the January window so far.
Zalot, a product of the highly-rated Llangoed youth system, returned to Tyddyn Paun from Llanfairpwll at the start of 2020.
Despite only being 16-years-old, the winger/forward hit eight goals for Llanfair and proved his worth in the Anglesey League.
Since January and upon moving back to Llangoed he’s been playing one level up in the Gwynedd League and again shown how good he is.
He first scored in a thrilling 4-4 draw with Nefyn, then put in a Man of the Match performance when he scored all four goals in the 4-2 win at Llanystumdwy. Zalot also bagged in a convincing 4-1 against Bro Goronwy in the Junior Cup.
With tons of pace, confidence and finishing abilities, he’s certainly one to watch in seasons to come.
Sion Parry (Bangor 1876)
Even though he’s only 23 years old, Parry is a vastly experienced forward with a great goal-scoring record.
Last season, he hit 49 goals for the invincible Porthmadog Reserves side, as well as one or two for the first team, and prior to that he was a goal machine for Llanystumdwy.
In fact, he holds the record there for scoring the most goals in a game – seven.
Since arriving at Treborth in January, he’s already hit nine goals for Bangor 1876 and has slowly but surely become a fans favourite.
He’ll be looking to help fire the club to silverware success come the end of the season.
Craig Moore (Hotspur Reserves)
Bagged a ridiculous 61 goals for Anglesey League champions Bryngwran Bulls last season.
The joined Holyhead Hotspur, where he scored twelve goals for The Reserves side and three for the first team.
A move back to the now re-branded Trearddur Bay Bulls came about in January and the striker is once again proving to be a handful. His return saw him score four on his debut in a 6-0 win over Llanystumdwy.
Over the years, Moore has been one of the best strikers on the island and his finishing is second to none. He’ll be looking to help The Bulls finish as high up the table as possible in what is their first season in the Gwynedd League.
Ally Issa (Bethesda Athletic)
Young talent who has played for Ogwen Tigers and spent the first half of this season playing the odd game for Arriva Bangor in the Anglesey League.
A move to Bethesda in the Gwynedd League has rejuvenated the 17-year-old winger’s playing career and he’s been lively in each every game for them upon his arrival at the club.
Scored on his debut in an 8-0 win over Llanerchymedd and then scored in the 10-2 defeat to the formidable Bangor 1876. Then scored another in a 5-2 defeat at Waunfawr just last weekend.
He looks like a great talent.
Paris Hargrave (Glantraeth)
Glan have jokingly been re-named ‘Glantraeth Uni’ by some of their “haters” in recent times, due to the number of Bangor University students now playing for the club. However, if they play like this boy has been I’m sure they won’t mind that.
Hargrave (far right) has settled in really well at the club alongside the likes of fellow new signings Sion Childes and Cai Evans and has looked lively.
The forward netted his first two goals for Glantraeth in a 4-1 win over Bro Goronwy at Cae Nerys, before adding two more in a 6-1 win over Llanerchymedd two weeks ago.
Since Sean Brett, who won the league with Menai Tigers last season, took over at Glan they’re looking like a much stronger side and I’m sure Hargrave will have a big role to play before the end of the season.
James Ryan (Glantraeth)
Has been banging the goals in for years now and initially made a name for himself with Bryngwran Bulls.
Broke records with Caergybi in the Anglesey League last season as he netted 74 goals and helped the club onto a cup double and promotion success.
This season, he netted eleven more goals for Caergybi in the Gwynedd League before switching to Glantraeth in January, where he’s hit four goals already.
He’s one of the best forwards around and his goal-scoring talents will no doubt benefit Glan as the season goes on.
