AFE’s 22/23 Season Stars: Iestyn Marlow (Bethesda Rovers)

THERE’S a new name in among the top scorers in the Eryri Consulting North Wales Coast West Division this season – and he should be there to stay this season.

Iestyn Marlow scored two goals last season – which both came in Rovers’ 3-2 win over Llangoed in October 2021.

But the 18-year-old has already smashed that tally in the 22/23 season and looks like a real talent in a much-improved Rovers side.

The club, managed by Tristan Walker, won just two matches all of last season as it finished bottom of the table in their first campaign as a club.

This season has been a very different story indeed though as they went on an unbeaten run of 6 games before a 4-1 defeat at league-leaders Cemaes last week.

Young attacker Marlow has been a big part of that progress and will be throughout the season I’m sure.

He has already scored six times in just seven appearances so far this season. That’s an impressive tally that even puts him fifth in the top scorers charts.

That means he currently sits just behind some very big names who were among the top scorers list last season, as well as Asa Thomas, who is of course a league newcomer with Trearddur Bay but is one of the most prolific goalscorers of all-time on Anglesey.

A quick player who loves to get at defenders, Marlow is certainly one to keep an eye on as Rovers push for a memorable campaign in 22/23.
