Debut hat-tricks for Evans and Bentley as Trearddur Bay hit double figures in derby!

THREE players scored a hat-trick each as Trearddur Bay became the first North Wales Coast West Division One side to hit double figures in a match this season.

Trearddur Bay beat Holyhead Town 12-1 in the local derby match played out on Bank Holiday Monday.

That is a record for the most goals scored by a single team in a Division One match since the league was formed in August 2021.

Three other teams have previously hit 11 goals in league matches last season – Cemaes Bay (v Bethesda Rovers), Talysarn Celts (v Y Fali) and Caergybi (also v Y Fali). That means the 11-goal gap in T Bay’s win is a joint-record.

Debutante Marc Evans was off the mark (or should that be ‘Marc’?!) just seconds into his first start for the club.

Tier five clubs were stunned by the news that ‘Loggs’ had arrived from Bodedern Athletic just a few days earlier. That is due to the fact that he had scored 62 goals at tier four level in 21/22 and earned promotion to tier three by winning the league with Boded too.

Now reunited with his former Boded strike partner Asa Thomas, the dynamic duo got off to a flier with a hat-trick apiece against Town.

Thomas now has 10 goals in just four T Bay matches and is top scorer in the division.

Also impressive on his debut was young winger Kaine Bentley who also helped himself to a hat-trick against the club he just recently transferred over to Bay from.

Last season, the 18-year-old impressed for Town as he netted 16 goals and provided 13 assists in 27 league appearances. But today, he came back to haunt them with a treble.

Also on target for free-scoring Bay were defended Marcus Bell, winger Justin Williams and midfielder Josh Evans, who came on from the bench to complete the scoring in stoppage time.

The victory moves Nick Dumbarton’s side up to second in the league table having won all four league matches so far. They’re a point behind leaders Bontnewydd, with two games in hand on them.

Trearddur Bay and Cemaes Bay are being tipped as the favourites for the Division One title this season and it’s hard to argue with that on today’s showing.
