TIER 5: Miller the hat-trick hero in big win for Y Fali!

PICTURE BY JWO PHOTOGRAPHY shows Cai Miller being mobbed by Y Fali teammates in win over Waunfawr.

Y FALI’S brightest young star had a match to remember as he scored a hat-trick in an impressive 4-2 win over Waunfawr.

Dan Jones’ side came from 2-0 down at half time to beat their Gwynedd opponents and leapfrog Llangoed into 14th in the North Wales Coast West Division One table in the process.

A double from Waunfawr captain Iwan Bohana had made it seem easy pickings for the visitors in the first half to give them a two-goal cushion.

But Y Fali, who had won just 3 of their 23 previous league matches heading into this tie, showed incredible courage to fight back the way they did in the second half.

Matthew Rowlands pulled one back on 59mins before promising young attacker Cai Miller made it all square on 67mins.

The 18-year-old then netted on 84mins and 90mins to complete an impressive turnaround.

That hat-trick meant Miller has now scored 7 goals in his last 6 matches in the league – proving he’s one to keep an eye on in future!

Elsewhere in the league, Llanfairpwll pulled off a huge 1-0 victory over Cemaes Bay – completing a league double over them in the process.

The last time Cemaes had lost in any competition before this match was against Llanfairpwll too – a 2-0 loss back on November 12, 2021.

Thomas Wilkes’ 19th minute was the only difference between the two sides in the end as Pwll stayed in 7th in the league table.

Meanwhile, Bethesda Athletic kept the pressure on at the top of the table as they beat local rivals Bethesda Rovers 7-0.

Attacking midfielder Joe Todd scored a first half hat-trick to take his season tally in all competitions up to 29 goals.

In the second half, Kieron Bullock (66’), Dean Redmond (74’), Scott Hughes (76’) and Sion Bullock (95’) joined in on the goal scoring action as Pesda stated within 6 points of league-leaders Llanerchymedd.

Talysarn Celts capitalised on Cemaes Bay’s loss to move four points ahead of them in third place as they beat Mountain Rangers 4-1 in the local derby.

Celts and league joint-top scorer Luke Baum netted his 36th league goal of the season just 7mins in but Aled Rice equalised on 14mins for Rangers.

But a Glyn Hughes-Thomas goal (25’) and yet another converted penalty from Jac Jones (his 10th this season) made it 3-1 at the break.

Celts goalkeeper Dan Tindall was sent off on 65mins but that didn’t faze them one bit as skipper Gerwyn Williams made it 4-1 and completed the scoring with 15mins left of the match.

Finally, Caergybi put Llangoed to the sword with a 7-2 win at Millbank.

The prolific Louis Chapman helped himself to a first half brace (16’, 31’) with Owain Griffiths (20’) also on target for the home team.

In the second half, Chapman completed his hat-trick (57’) and moved level with Celts Baum on 36 league goals for the season.

Steve Driedyk (62’) and Marcus Bell (66’) made it 6-0 before Llangoed pulled one back through substitute and player-manager David Thomas’ goal on 71mins.

Dan McGinness then scored from a header on 84mins before Rob Boyes scored another consolation goal for the visitors two minutes later.
