Thank you all – AFEFootballNews shortlisted for Football Content Awards Finals!

WE at AFEFootballNews are extremely pleased to announce that we have made the top ten shortlist in one of the categories of the prestigious Football Content Awards (FBA’s) for 2021 – all thanks to our readers!

The FCA’s is the awards ceremony celebrating the best in online football media throughout the UK.

From the independent creators to the media organisations, small and large, it aims to congratulate the best in class for the football content we see day to day online.

Dubbed ‘The Oscars of the Football Content Industry,’ the FCA’s were originally founded as the Football Blogging Awards in 2012. Since then, it has evolved with the media landscape in that time which led to the rebirth and creation of the Football Content Awards in 2020.

With voting conducted by fans and judges, the idea was founded by Anthony Cooper before joining forces with Snack Media to find the ‘Fans Ballon d’Or’ – the best in the online content world.

This time around, we have been chosen in the top 10 in the ‘Small Team or Business’ sub-category in the Best in Non-League category alongside the following …

Small Team or Business

Torquay Talk
Bunch Of Amateurs
Severn Sport
Football in Berkshire
Rootz TV
AFE Football News
Love Non League
Non League Bible
Outside The 92
Non League Daily

AFEFootballNews was founded back in 2015 as a University project by Anglesey-based journalist Arron Fon Evans. What started out as focusing on European and Premier League football quickly saw Arron turn attentions closer to home to focus on grassroots football in North Wales.

Since then, the blog has grown year on year – reaching more than 100,000 views already in 2021 despite not being an everyday thing (Arron balances the blog with his everyday job as a full-time journalist for Newsquest media).

Talking about seeing the blog nominated, Arron said: “It’s an absolute honour to make the shortlist of an awards ceremony which will also feature the likes of Sky Sports in other categories.

“It was totally unexpected to see our name crop up amongst the many other great football content creators on the various shortlists earlier today. Knowing that people love what we do for local football in Anglesey and Gwynedd (mainly) is fantastic.

“I just want to say a huge thank you to everybody who has taken the time out of their day to, first of all, read our articles and of course, to also vote for us and supported us over the years too. Let’s hope we can now go on to win the award itself!”

With the help of Tomos Wyn Jones and Keane Webster (read more about those two here), AFE has expanded it’s horizons and is (we hope!) providing quality content for readers on a weekly basis.

To even make an FCA’s shortlist at all is a huge honour, but now we are aiming to go one step further and win the award on behalf OF WALES (being the only Welsh blog nominated in this category).

To vote for us again in the grand final and help us bring the award home to Cymru and indeed Ynys Mon, all you have to do is select ‘AFEFootballNews’ here under the category ‘Small Business’ under ‘Best In Non-League’: https://footballcontentawards.com/voting

Voting will end on Sunday, September 12 and award winners will be announced at the live event at the Royal Lancaster Hotel in London on October 14.
