JD CYMRU NORTH club Colwyn Bay have announced the signing of talented attacker Sam Jones from Caernarfon Town.
The 21-year-old began his footballing career with Anglesey club Menai Tigers – working his way up from the under 7’s squad to the under 16’s before going on to play for Bangor City’s under 16’s and under 19’s sides.
Some impressive performances there saw Jones break into City’s first team, where he was seen as a top prospect for the club. However, when Caernarfon came calling in the summer of 2019, he switched allegiances.
He showed glimpses of real promise during his time at The Oval, despite limited chances in the first team.
Jones (above) was also part of the Ynys Mon squad who won gold on home soil at the Island Games Tournament held in the summer of 2019. The striker was impressive throughout that campaign, hitting three goals – including two in a nervy 2-1 win over the Shetland Isles in the semi-final stage.
He now arrives at tier two club Colwyn Bay where he should go on to score plenty of goals and add plenty of creativity to the side in an attacking sense too.
Commenting on signing the player, Bay manager Craig Hogg said: “We are really pleased to have agreed terms with Sam and to be bringing him to the club. He has been training with us for a number of weeks and is an exciting talent who can operate in any of the front positions.
“I have been very impressed with Sam. He works incredibly hard, has good quality and will no doubt terrify defenders with his electric pace. I’m sure that Sam can become a success here at Colwyn Bay. He is joining a big club and it is a stage I think he could thrive on.”
