LLANERCHYMEDD are already strong contenders to go on and win the first-ever North Wales Coast West Division One season in 2021/22. Now, they’ve bolstered their ranks further by adding a top-quality midfielder to the mix.

Last year, a whole host of former players and coaching staff returned to Tan Parc in an attempt to turn the club’s fortunes around and get it back to where it belongs.

After a difficult few seasons which saw them drop out of the Welsh Alliance, Llan hit rock bottom in 2019/20 as they finished bottom of the pile in the Gwynedd League without a single point to their name.

That’s the biggest reason why so many familiar faces decided to make a return to the club to help it get back on it’s feet.

Manager Meirion Grieves and assistant Iwan Williams have taken over at the helm and the likes of Matthew Jones and Dan Thomas have dropped down as far as from tier two level with Llangefni Town to once again represent the green of Llanerchymedd.

That sort of quality in the team has placed them as early favourites to go on and win the title next season – but it will be by no means easy as the likes of Cemaes Bay, Caergybi and so many more will be hot on their heels I’m sure.

Llan have boosted their side again this week however with the addition of Chris Bennett to the squad.

Last season, the midfielder was highly influential at Gaerwen as he scored 17 goals in all competitions as the club finished fourth in Welsh Alliance Two during a campaign cut short by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Bennett has previously played for the likes of Gwalchmai and Bodedern Athletic also and will be a familiar face to many on the local footballing scene as he’s regarded as a top talent.

Speaking on signing Bennett, CPD Llanerchymedd FC assistant manager Iwan Williams said: “Bennett has been an integral part of many great Anglesey clubs, He’s been a name we have discussed about trying to get to Llan for a while, manager Meirion and myself are absolutely delighted to finally get him here to Tan Parc, croeso i’r Clwb Chris”.
