Happy birthday to one of the greatest young talents around – Dylan Summers-Jones!

AS FIRST seasons in senior football go, very few will ever enjoy better than the one Dylan Summers-Jones did in 2019/20.

The attacker, who joined JD Cymru North (tier two) side Llangefni Town last year, turns 19 years old today.

But it was of course with Bangor 1876 that he really built a reputation for himself on the local football scene.

In what was the club’s first season, and his first season in men’s football in which he played regularly in 2019/20, DSJ was simply outstanding throughout.

Playing in a team which was a great mix of former top-flight experience in the likes of Les Davies and Michael Johnston and other exciting young stars such as Cian Williams, Summers-Jones was the star of the show for 1876.

The club itself was, as expected, completely dominant in its first Gwynedd League campaign, winning all 16 of its league matches and scoring 115 goals to storm its way to the title as the season was called off early due to the coronavirus pandemic.

DSJ (above) enjoyed a breakthrough season. Despite being just 17 when the campaign started, he netted 41 goals in all competitions – finishing as the club’s first-ever top scorer and earning the Supporters Player of the Season at the fan-owned club in the process.

He also scored two crucial goals in a 2-1 away win over the then-league leaders Trearddur Bay Bulls in December 2019.

As a youth player, he represented Gaerwen, Llanfairpwll, Llangefni Town and Bangor City Academy (and also made a few first team appearances for the latter).

Now he’s back with Llangefni and ready to prove his worth at tier two level. He certainly showed great signs last season that he is ready to do just that for Chris Roberts’ side despite his young age.

Have a great birthday mate!
