BODEDERN ATHLETIC announced the latest quality player to join their squad yesterday evening.

The North Wales Coast West Premier club have confirmed that forward Justin Williams will take to the field for them in the 21/22 season.

He’s one of the most underrated strikers around in my opinion and his record over the last few seasons at tier four and five level has been brilliant.

In my first season of covering the Anglesey League back in 2017/18, Williams enjoyed his best season to date, racking up 36 goals for a Valley Athletic side who had been title chasers at one point during the season. that year, he was top scorer for the club and led the line well in attacking trio of himself, Mike Williams (who scored 30 goals) and Konner Druce (now a goalkeeper!) who scored 23 goals.

After a season plagued by injuries whilst with Caergybi in 2018/19, Williams bounced back last season whilst playing for Trearddur Bay Bulls.

Having been promoted from the Anglesey League as champions in the season prior, Richard Owen’s Bulls set the GL alight and were top for a decent part of the season – until Bangor 1876 caught up to them on matches played and maintained a 100% record at the end of the season which was cut short.

In the end, the club finished fourth on Points Per Game, despite having more points (38) than Nefyn United (34) who were runners-up and Menai Tigers (32) who were third, due to them having played more matches than their opponents.

Through it all though, pacey forward Williams was a real threat and was one of the top scorers in the division, notching up 15 goals. He also scored 10 goals in cup competitions to give himself 25 in total and place himself as the club’s top scorer.

Having turned out for the Bulls once more during friendlies in 2020, Williams will now go onto don the green and white for Ricky Williams’ side in 21/22.

After losing top scorer Dean Redmond last year, as he returned to Menai Tigers, it was vital that Boded found a great replacement for him and in Williams they have done just that. His pace and finishing set him apart from others when he’s on top form.
