CPD Penrhyndeudraeth FC have tonight announced a fantastic appointment to the role of club manager in the form of former top-flight coach Iwan Williams.
These are now what are undoubtedly exciting times for a club who just recently added a new 100-seater stand to their Maes Y Parc home ground.
Williams will bring with him a wealth of experience and success to the Gwynedd-based outfit who will play tier three football when the sport resumes in the near future.
The 36-year-old, who is a UEFA Pro Licence holder and is from Penrhyndeudraeth originally, is best known on the Welsh football scene for his success with both Llandudno and Caernarfon Town football clubs.
Williams guided the Canaries to the Huw’s Gray Alliance League title and cup double, as well as promotion to the JD Cymru Premier back in 2016 – his first season in charge at The Oval.
With Llandudno, he took over midway through the 2017/18 season following the departure of Alan Morgan from the then-top-flight club. He took compassionate leave during that campaign which saw Tudno relegated to the second tier after a memorable four-year stay at the highest level of Welsh football.
He was also part of the coaching team which led Ynys Môn’s men’s side to gold at the Island Games tournament held on home soil in the summer of 2019 (below).

Williams later went onto become Director of Football at Bangor 1876, who won the Gwynedd League in their debut season as a club in 2019/20.
In October of last year, he took up the offer of joining the management team at National League North side Chester, where he worked alongside Anthony Johnson and Bernard Morley.
Williams also had great experience in his playing days also having turned out for Wrexham, Porthmadog, Newtown, Connah’s Quay Nomads, Llanfairpwll and Caersws, before a spell in America.
He will know doubt prove to be a knowledgable, inspiring and top class appointment for his home village side who seem to be a club on the up. Penrhyndeudraeth’s current manager Barry Evans will act as his assistant.
Announcing his appointment, a statement from CPD Penrhyndeudraeth read: “The Club would like to announce that Iwan Williams will take over as manager for the new season.
“Iwan, who holds the UEFA Pro License, will join the Club after being part of the coaching team at National League North club, Chester FC.

“Prior to that, Iwan was Director of Football at Bangor 1876, manager of Llandudno in the Welsh Premier League and Caernarfon Town, where he won the Huws Gray Cymru Alliance League and cup double in his first season in charge.
“Our previous manager, Barry Evans, will remain as player / assistant manager and will also remain a valued member of the Club committee. Barry has worked extremely hard to ensure that the recent improvements at Maes Y Parc were completed.
“News regarding pre-season and maybe the possibility of ‘new’ players will follow soon!”
Pob lwc Iwan and all involved!
