AMLWCH TOWN FC have confirmed that Chris Byast has accepted the role of manager at Lôn Bach.

A former player of the club, he took on the role of interim manager in August 2020, following the resignation of long-serving Ryan McKean.

As a player, Chris also starred for the likes of Llanerchymedd, Bro Goronwy and Amlwch’s bitter rivals Cemaes Bay – who he spent the start of the 2019/20 campaign with.

Amlwch say he has ‘wasted little time’ in putting his own stamp on the squad; bringing in a number of fresh faces and adding youth players to start moulding a new team.

And it worked very well in the friendlies before Christmas, with the club picking up great wins – including a 5-2 away victory at a very strong Trearddur Bay Bulls side.

All in all, they picked up three wins, one draw and one loss before the Coronavirus ended all football once again in December 2020.

On being appointed Amlwch Town manager, Chris Byast, whose brother Martin plays for Llandudno Amateurs, said: “I hadn’t really thought about management before – but I approached the committee offering to help after Ryan (McKean) stepped down and was given the interim manager role. I’ve tried to bring my own ideas into training sessions and things were going really well before the season ended.

“We’ve managed to recruit some good new players and I’m looking forward to working more with the lads when we get back to training and playing again.

“I’m pleased that the committee have shown their faith in me; and offered me the manager’s role. I’m still new to this management stuff so it’s going to be a challenege, but one I’m really looking forward to!”

All the best Chris!
