ANOTHER talented set of brothers featured in this ever-growing series tonight.
Henry and Alfie Caldecott are two top footballers in their own respective halves of the pitch – and both recently featured in my Stars of the 2019/20 Season for the lie efforts during the most recent campaign.
Despite having played alongside one another for Penmaenmawr Phoenix for a number of seasons in the past (up to as recently as 2016), the pair now play in two separate counties.
Henry has gone on to enjoy great success on Anglesey. With Bryngwran Bulls, he became one of the best defenders in the Anglesey League and made it into my Team of the Season for that division in 2017/18.
During that particular season, the defender (below) who can play anywhere across the back line but is predominantly a centre half, was vital to Richard Owen’s side’s memorable campaign as they won the Lucas Oil and Dargie Cups.
His partnership at the back with the likes of Hari Jones and John Jones was formidable and benefitted the Bulls to no end.
The season after that, Henry departed the Bulls for newly-formed Llangefni-based side Cefni FC, where he was joined by a few other former Bulls players including Nathan Lewis.
That again proved to be a great move for the player as he continued his great form and the club finished fourth in its very first season.
Henry is a quality defender who’s quick and great at winning the ball back for his side. For me, he’s one of the best defenders around in the lower leagues of North Wales.
Brother Alfie (below in yellow) is also a real talent and has been banging in the goals for Phoenix over the years.
The forward had a spell with Llandudno Albion in 2018 before returning to Phoenix once more and hit 15 goals for the club as they finished third in Welsh Alliance Two last season.
Alfie is a striker who has bags of pace and a brilliant eye for goal and is undoubtedly one of the best around in the Conwy county in his position these days.
