BANGOR-BORN Nathan Broadhead has been named in Everton’s 25-man Premier League squad for the remainder of the 2020/21 campaign.
Every year once the January transfer window shuts, English top-flight clubs must announce their updated 25-man squad who can represent them for the rest of the season.
A maximum of 17 of those players can be non-homegrown and clubs can have as many homegrown talents as they want.
Broadhead, considered a homegrown player, has now been added to Carlo Ancelotti’s squad for the remainder of the 20/21 Premier League campaign.
The 22-year-old winger/striker, who has 17 caps for Wales U21’s, has been in fine form for Everton’s U23’s side of late – scoring 3 goals and setting up two in ten games in Premier League Two Division One.
Broadhead has been with Everton since he was just 10 years old, having joined the Toffees from Wrexham’s academy.
His finest campaign to date with the young Toffees came when he scooped the club’s Under-23 Player-of-the-Season prize following a league and cup double in 2018-19. A highlight of that season saw him scoring a double in Everton’s 2-0 win against bitter rivals Liverpool U23’s at Anfield.
Despite not yet making his Premier League debut, he has previously played for the first team in the UEFA Europa League – playing eight minutes of a 3-0 win over Apollon Limassol in December 2017.
In the 2019/20 season, he spent time on loan at Burton Albion, where he made 20 appearances in Sky Bet League One, scoring two goals.
Last summer it was reported that Everton were ‘open to offers’ for Broadhead to move elsewhere. But now, following a string of great performances for the U23’s, it looks as though he may just get his chance to shine in the top-flight in the near future.
