FORMER Caernarfon Town star Nathan Craig has made the move back to the Oval on transfer deadline day.
The former Cofis skipper previously made more than two hundred appearances for the club before departing for then-newly-promoted JD Cymru Premier side Flint Town United last summer.
Having made four appearances for the Silkmen this season, the 29-year-old has opted to go back to Caernarfon ahead of the top-flight season potentially resuming in future.
Caernarfon-born Craig has played professionally for Everton and Torquay in the past, and also enjoyed a short spell at Dorchester in 2014.
A former Welsh Under 21 international, he can play comfortably in defence and midfield and is acknowledged as one of the best set-piece experts in the Welsh game, as he showcased so many times for Caernarfon down the years.
His return to the Oval is even more good news for Caernarfon Town who also extended manager Hun Griffiths’ and fan favourite Noah Edwards’ contracts at the club this week.
Speaking to the club website upon his return on transfer deadline day, Craig said: “It’s really nice to be back and I’m going to be trying my best to help the team finish in the top six and hopefully then qualify for Europe.”
Other notable transfers made in the JD Cymru Premier today saw Lifumpa Mwandwe and Alex Fletcher return to Newtown. The former, a 20-year-old versatile attacker, spent last season on loan with the Robins from Shrewsbury, scoring three goals. Fletcher is a midfielder who started 20 games for Chris Hughes’ side last season and returns after a brief spell at Stourbridge. The club has also brought forward Jonathan Letford in from Rushall Olympic on what has been a busy deadline day for them.
Meanwhile, there has been transfer activity at Craig’s former employers Flint Town United too; as they’ve signed four players from the same club. Eddie Clarke, Evan Gumbs, Jordan Buckley and Mitch Duggan have all made the move to the Essity Stadium from Warrington Town and their team mate Jack Mackreth has made the move to Bala Town earlier today.

Elsewhere, Cardiff Met have signed Swansea City duo Matthew Blake and Josh Thomas on loan for the remainder of the season and veteran defender Jonathan Foligno (above) has departed Aberystwyth Town for Penrhyncoch, where he spent the last decade before transferring to Park Avenue last summer. The 39-year-old centre back scored one goal in 9 appearances in the top-flight for Gavin Allen’s side this season.
Attacker Jamie Bird has re-joined Barry Town United from Bristol Manor Farm and Haverfordwest County have extended the loans of goalkeeper Matthew Turner (Leeds United) and Danny Williams (Cardiff City) until the end of the 20/21 season.
More deals are expected to be announced by top-flight clubs in the next few hours before the transfer window shuts.
