A QUALITY goalkeeper who put in some eye-catching performances for Glantraeth in the Gwynedd League last season.
Hawkins is a Sports Science student at Bangor University who is also the man between the sticks for their men’s first team.
In the past, he has spent time with Shrewsbury Town and West Bromwich Albion’s academies and that sort of talent shone through whilst with Glan last season, as he played alongside a number of other Bangor Uni players who were also with the club.
The former Wem Town and Bodedern Athletic goalkeeper is a great shot stopper and has been an ever-present figure in Bangor Uni’s first team side over recent seasons – winning the Varsity Cup by beating Aberystwyth Uni in 2019.
His great performances there saw him selected to play for Welsh Universities side in a recent Home Nations tournament and appeared against both the English and Scottish Universities.
Following a string of great performances for both Glan and the Uni last season, Gwynedd League champions Bangor 1876 swooped in to sign the player last August.
I’m sure he’ll be a much-loved figure there by supporters when football returns.
