AFE’s Stars of the 2019/20 season: Grahame Jones (Cefni)

IN THIS series, I have given clubs the chance to nominate their own players. This is one of those.

Although, he didn’t play all that often last season (as he was appointed player-manager once Mark Thomas had left for Llangoed), Jones has been a huge part of Cefni since it formed in 2017.

The people who put his name forward were keen to highlight that and the fact that ‘Squeeze’, as he’s known, has been such a great leader for the club both on and off the field over the last two seasons.

The experienced centre back made it into my Anglesey League Team of the Season in 2018/19 for his superb performances as captain in Cefni’s debut season.

He scored once for them last season and played a handful of games too. But, off the field his influence was just as important, as although the club finished bottom of the AL, they did overturn a massive points deduction to make it in to credit.

Jones has just recently left the club for pastures new and Cefni players and coaches were keen to thank him through the blog for his efforts.

A superb player and coach and a top man too.
