IN MY time covering Anglesey League football on the blog (2017-present)!, Scott Hughes has banged in 147 goals in all competitions – making him one of the highest-scoring players in the division during that period of time, along with James Ryan.
Since Arriva made the switch to Saturday League football in that 2017/18 season, the pacey little forward has been nothing short of incredible at times.
In 2019/20, he managed 41 goals in a season that was A) cut short due to Coronavirus and B) he missed a lot of due to injury.
The Busmen’s star man was in fine form once more when available and I’m sure he’d have managed a lot more goals had the season carried on to the very end.
It still amazes me that he’s never won that league top scorer prize as he’s undoubtedly one of the best finishers around on his day and his ability to get in behind defenders is brilliant.
After several seasons with Arriva, the forward has now moved on to Sean Brett’s Glantraeth side ahead of the 2020/21 campaign – where he has once again been banging in the goals in ‘pre-season’.
