Connor Hughes (Llanfairpwll – Sponsored by Anglesey Boat Trips)
Goalkeeper who, particularly after Kieran Weeks (Caergybi) and Konner Druce (Trearddur Bay Bulls) were promoted to the Gwynedd League last season, must be regarded as one of, if not THE best shot-stopper in the division by now.
Known for wearing his Petr Cech style scrum cap, Hughes has been Llanfair’s number one for some time now and looks irreplaceable between the sticks.
Aaron Jones (Bodorgan)
I’ve put him in this team as a right back (as he has played and scored twice from that position already) but Jones is a very versatile player, sort of like Bod’s very own James Milner.
He’s had a phenomenal start to the campaign – hitting a total of six goals and was voted the AL’s Player of the Month by AFE’s followers.
Ryan Heywood (Valley)
Valley have had quite the start to the season and their defence has been a huge part of them getting 4/5 wins to date.
Heywood’s (Above right) centre back partnership with Dion Evans (and often a third CB with them – Ashley Hughes for example) is up there as one of the best in the division at the moment.
He’s also chipped in with a goal along the way in August.
Dion Evans (Valley)
As mentioned, Evans (above in Black and Red) is the other half of Valley’s strong CB pairing and also captain of Dan Jones’ team for 2019/20 – having returned to the club after a brief spell in the Welsh Alliance with Bodedern Athletic.
Tough-tackling and great in the air, he’s undoubtedly one of the best defenders in the league and he too has got his name on the score sheet during August.
Lewis Connor (Cemaes Bay – Sponsored by Dynamic Duo Racing)
Highly reliable left-back who returned to The Bay to play under Darren Thomas for 2019-20 after a personally successful spell with Llanerchymedd in the Welsh Alliance.
As expected, the tall defender, who has one goal to his name so far, has slotted in comfortably into Cemaes’ starting eleven in the Anglesey League and rightfully claims his place in this team. I’m sure we’l see him feature in many more team of the month articles before the end of the season too.
Dylan Jones (Pentraeth Reserves)
The Reserves little magician in the middle has continued to impress this season with a string of fine performances and assists to his name.
His creativity is key to Danny Jones and Paul Matier’s side from the heart of their midfield and I’m sure he’ll be one to watch once again as the campaign develops.
Simon Kay (Mountain Rangers)
Captain of the only unbeaten team to date, Kay has been a standout in the heart of Rangers’ midfield. The new Anglesey League side, based in Rhosgadfan, have enjoyed a formidable start to 2019/20 and currently sit at the top of the table heading into September.
Kay has bagged four goals in a memorable month and looks the real deal as Alex Philp’s side look to claim the title in their debut campaign.
Casey Boylan (Valley)
AFE’s Player of the Month has been in incredible form throughout the month. Boylan’s class has well and truly told after he dropped down from playing in Welsh Alliance One with Bodedern Athletic.
His ability to control the tempo of the game, with and without the ball at his feet is incredible at times. With four Man of the Match awards in five matches and nine goals to his name, Boylan will certainly be a key player in Valley’s title-charge this season.
Keenan Downey (Cemaes Bay – Sponsored by Dynamic Duo Racing)
Another player who has dropped down from playing for Bodedern, Downey returned to the club that shaped him as a young player this summer. Now captain of The Bay, he’s a tireless worker in their midfield.
Strong on the ball and great at driving his team forward, the 22-year-old will be determined to see his side win some silverware come the end of the season.
August was a memorable one for him as he popped up with five goals – including a hat-trick in a 20-0 demolition of Holyhead Town Reserves.
Sam Williams (Mountain Rangers)
Rangers’ star man so far this season has led the line well for them and has banged in nine goals in August.
Four goals in his first start in an 8-0 win over Holyhead Town Reserves was followed by a brace in a 3-1 win at Llanfairpwll. Then, another three goals followed throughout the month.
He is certainly looking like a real contender for the Anglesey League’s top scorer prize.
Steven Whittaker (Cemaes Bay – sponsored by Dynamic Duo Racing)
Unsurprisingly, the first person to hit double figures this season. “Tyco” is one of the best strikers on the island and is yet another star who has dropped down from playing for Bodedern this season.
He’s shown his great finishing abilities upon his return to The Bay and will no doubt be looking to surpass the 50 goal mark this season to reclaim the top scorer award that he has won in the past.
Manager: Alex Philp (Mountain Rangers)
Has to be the manager of the only team not to lose this season doesn’t it?
Four wins and a draw are the story of Rangers’ season to date and they’re currently top of the Anglesey League despite being one of two new clubs to join the division in the summer.
Philp’s boys certainly look the real deal, but can they maintain their title charge? Speaking on the season so far, he said: “We are just taking it one game at a time and see where it takes us, no expectations or pressure from committee this season just looking to build a good squad. However, a cup final would be nice for the lads at end of season.”

Tom Zalot (Llanfairpwll – Sponsored by Anglesey Boat Trips)
A late signing for Llanfair in mid-August but one that paid off immediately for the club.
The 16-year-old attacker, brought in from Llangoed, bagged two on his debut in a 3-1 win over Arriva Bangor then another brace in a 4-3 victory over Holyhead Town Reserves a week later.
Certainly one to keep an eye on and another great young prospect for the island.
Tudur Williams (Valley)
Left Llanerchymedd over the summer to return to former club Valley and certainly won’t be regretting that.
A dynamic midfielder who’s popped up with four goals to date and has been a standout within Dan Jones’ team.
Andy Williams (sponsored by Sport Thought) (Cemaes Bay – Sponsored by Dynamic Duo Racing)
Experienced striker who spent several prolific goal scoring seasons at Gwynedd League side Bro Goronwy before switching to title-chasing Cemaes during the summer.
He’s hit seven goals in August and looks like being a great striker partner up top for Steven Whittaker.
