GOALSCORERS have been on fire in the Anglesey League this season and the competition has been fierce. Here, I give you the lowdown on the top 10 deadliest target men in the division …
Mark Williams (Arriva Bangor) – 14 goals
Experienced central midfielder who has been superb for The Busmen this season. His physical presence has been his main attribute but he’s also popped up with a double-figure goal tally too. His experience in the middle of the park has made him a vital part of Arriva’s starting eleven.
Shaun Morris (Llanfairpwll) – 15 goals
Llanfair’s main man up top has been a handful for defenders to try and deal with so far. His pace up top has made him a threat and his ability to score penalties with ease has seen him hit the 15 goal mark.
Mike Williams (Valley) – 16 goals
Tall forward who hit 30 goals for Dan Jones’ side last season and he’s already more than halfway there again this time around too. Always a handful in the air due to his height, Williams is also great with his feet and he’s proven that once more this season.
Luke Allaway (Bodorgan) – 16 goals
Having had a brief spell at Welsh Alliance Two side Aberffraw, Allaway returned to Bod a couple of weeks ago, bagging a brace in a stunning 5-5 draw with Valley. He’s now up to 16 for the season and after hitting 28 last season, he’ll no doubt be looking to add more to this season’s tally.
Gary Jo Owen (Caergybi) – 17 goals
Last season’s Anglesey League top scorer with an incredible 58 goals. Gary Jo netted 16 goals for Cybi before leaving for Holyhead Town in September. He returned to Millbank two weeks ago and bagged on his second debut for the club. He’s without doubt one of the best strikers around but it will take some catching up for him to beat strike Partner James Ryan’s record this season now!
Kenny Williams (Pentraeth Reserves) – 18 goals
The Reserves have enjoyed a decent season under the guidance of Danny Jones and Paul Matier and have even reached a cup final. Williams has been a big part of their progress this season and has looked sharp in front of goal. He should be looking to hit the 25 goal mark before the end of the season.
Ryan Rowlands (Cemaes Bay) – 23 goals
Playing anywhere along the front line for Cemaes this season, Rowlands (left, above) has been exceptional at times. He’s been a threat on the counter attack and has been one of the surprise top scorers in the division, reaching 20 goals early on in the season.
Craig Moore (Bryngwran Bulls) – 44 goals
Moore made the step down from the Welsh Alliance after Trearddur Bay folded in the summer. Their loss is certainly The Bulls’ gain however as he has been in blistering form in front of goal this season. His pace and movement on the ball have made him a real handful and his finishing is excellent. He’ll no doubt pass the 50 mark before the end of the season as he looks to help fire Bryngwran to potential league and cup glory.
Scott Hughes (Arriva Bangor) – 48 goals
Pacey little front man who always works hard to grab the goals for his team – being just shy of 50 so far. Arriva’s star player has already surpassed his tally from last season (46) and can be a real game-changer for Kevin Jones’ side when he’s on top form.
James Ryan (Caergybi) – 64 goals
Cybi forward is pulling away from the rest in the race for the 2018/19 top scorer prize. Ryan, who has bagged hat-trick after hat-trick this season, is in unstoppable form at the moment and is scoring from everywhere. He is the deadliest of the Anglesey League bunch and having already blitzed his tally from last season (54), he’ll be looking to reach an incredible 70+ goals come the end of May.
