BENLLECH CAR BOOT TROPHY
Cup holders Arriva Bangor progressed to the second round of the Car Boot Trophy with a hard fought 3-1 win over Cefni.
Goals from Danny Camilleri (Arriva) and Nathan Lewis (Cefni) had seen the game go into half time at 1-1 after an evenly-fought first half.
Two more goals from the lively Camilleri to complete a hat-trick was enough to see Kevin Jones’ side into the next round and keep their hopes of retaining the trophy alive for the time being.
Elsewhere, Caergybi destroyed Pentraeth Reserves 9-1 thanks to a fine all-round team performance.
Played in some awful conditions, the game was always going to produce goals and it was midfielder Dewi Thomas who played the key role in that department on Saturday – bagging himself a hat-trick. Star striker James Ryan and talented midfielder Dave Webb bagged a brace each and Marcus Bell and Mason Hughes (debut goal) completed the rout.
A Dylan Jones strike was the only consolation for the Reserves, who went down to 10 men in the second half.
Valley crashed out of the cup as Holyhead Hotspur Reserves picked up another impressive win on their travels.
Mike Kelly’s side progressed thanks to a goal from defender Kris Dunne as Valley failed to find their feet in this one.
Finally, Llanfairpwll bounced back from a tough run of late as they got the better of Llandegfan, beating them 5-2 after Extra Time.
Striker Shaun Morris had given Llanfair the lead early on but a swift equaliser followed for Llandeg via a great header from Dave Parry. The scoreline remained the same until half time as both teams battled hard through the strong winds.
Llandegfan then took the lead early on in the second 45, striker Ryan Hughes (top scorer from last season) ending his goal scoring drought by dinking the keeper to put his side 2-1 up. It lasted awhile too – Llanfair even missing a penalty which was saved brilliantly by Daniel Kendrick in goal for Llandeg. However, an equaliser did come in the last 10 minutes for the visitors – Shaun Morris whipping in a dangerous ball which took a deflection off a defender and went in.
Extra Time it was then and it was here that tired legs began to show for Llandegfan and matters were made worse when Jordan Love was shown a red card. In fairness though, there was nothing they could do about the third goal – Morris turning and shooting spectacularly into the top corner of the net. Midfielder Terry Wax then bagged a double himself to send Llanfair into the hat for the next round.

ANGLESEY LEAGUE
In the only league game on Saturday afternoon, Bodorgan picked up a vital three points at Cemaes Bay – winning 1-0.
Danny Connolly’s sixth goal of the season was enough for the visitors to earn themselves the victory, despite going down to ten men in the second half.
It may not look like such a great victory on paper, but that victory could be huge come the end of the season for Bod who will be looking to finish above the likes of Cemaes, Pentraeth Reserves etc.

GWYNEDD LEAGUE
Title-chasing Gwalchmai came away 5-2 winners from bottom-of-the-table Llanystumdwy.
Craig Evans was the hat-trick hero as Gwalch endured a bit of a fight back from their hosts, but managed to hold on for those all important three points. Goals from Declan Jones and Kian Owen ensured the victory.
The visitors will be hoping that the injury to Corey Sinnott was not as bad as first feared, as he would be a huge loss.
Elsewhere, Mynydd Tigers battled their way back from 4-1 down to earn themselves a very valuable point against Waunfawr.
Adam Jones put the home side 1-0 up on 18 mins before froward Mike Holroyd equalised for Mynydd on 27 mins. Four minutes later, Waunfawr were ahead once more when Rhodri Owen scored to give them the advantage at half time.
Goals from Dafydd Evans (46′) and Kevin Barlow (70′), had made it look as though Waunfawr were cruising but an incredible late fightback and goals from Holroyd (75′), Mike Williams (81′) and Ian Owen (88′) saw last season’s Anglesey League champions claim a crucial point.

MEDITEL CUP (ROUND TWO)
Glantraeth were dumped out of the cup at the hands of Nefyn United as the latter came away with a 3-1 win.
A great strike from Guto Roberts just before half time kicked things off in Nefyn’s favour. The tie had hung in the balance until Zac Allanson made it 2-0 on 75 minutes. The game was well and truly killed off five minutes from time when Llion Jones’ shot hit a defender and went in. Tim Evans’ penalty in the last minute was a mere consolation for the home side in this tie.
Positive news followed the game for Glantraeth though as news broke of midfielder Jamie Roberts’ return to the club. He will no doubt make a difference in this side with his wealth of experience of playing higher league football despite still being young.
Menai Bridge Tigers will be joining Nefyn in the next round as they continued their incredible start to the season by beating Llangoed 4-2.
Harry Jones put the home side in front on 15 minutes before Llangoed pulled themselves back into just after the half hour mark thanks to a Charlie McKenna strike. The Tigers netted again before half time though – Sam Roberts putting them 2-1 up on 37 mins.
Kevin Roberts then made it 3-1 on 50 mins before an own goal finished the game off as a contest on 70 mins. Llangoed kept pushing however and were rewarded on 80 mins when David Thomas bagged their second goal.
