WITH the 2017/18 Kon-X Anglesey League officially done and dusted now, I thought I’d take a look at each teams top scorers in the division.
There has been some consistent goalscorers in the league this time around and some of them have been truly been phenomenal to watch. Here, I highlight each of the nine teams’ stand out scorers …
Arriva Bangor
Scott Hughes – 46 goals

Andy Clarke – 17 goals (+7 for Menai Bridge Tigers)

Kieron Davies – 10 goals

Scott Hughes was a consistent goal scorer throughout the 2017/18 campaign for Arriva and became a well-known name in the division.
No surprise then that he finished as his side’s top scorer with a whopping 46 goals to his name.
His striker partner Andy Clarke – who arrived at the club later on in the season, netted 17 times (although he had already hit 7 for Menai Bridge Tigers)
Midfielder Kieron Davies also enjoyed a fine campaign, scoring 10 goals as the club marched on to a cup double and a fifth placed finish in their debut AL season.
Bodorgan
Luke Allaway – 28 goals

Danny Connolly – 12 goals (+5 for Holyhead Hotspur Reserves)

Some much-improved performances from Bodorgan this season saw them enjoy decent wins in the league and finish as runners-up in the Elias Cup.
Tall striker Luke Allaway led the way and ended on an impressive tally of 28 goals. He was sharp throughout the season and was always calm from the penalty spot too.
Fellow striker Danny Connolly arrived at Cae Cob later on in the campaign and formed a great partnership with Allaway, netting 12 goals of his own.
Bryngwran Bulls
James Ryan – 54 goals

Andrew Bailey – 20 goals

Matty Roberts – 15 goals

It was lethal forward James Ryan who led the line for The Bulls this season and his form took them to runner up places in the league and the Megan Cup and to victory in the Dargie and Lucas Oil cups.
His 54 goal haul was beaten only by Caergybi hitman Gary Jo Owen who hit 58 in the end – but Ryan can certainly be proud of what both he and his club achieved this year.
Elsewhere, club captain Andrew Bailey was instrumental in midfield, bagging 20 goals, whilst wideman Matty Roberts was also impressive, hitting 15 goals.
Caergybi
Gary Jo Owen – 58 goals

Dewi Thomas – 14 goals

Glenn North – 14 goals

Kurt Harris – 13 goals

Cybi may have finished fourth in the end, but they certainly had a season to remember – even winning the Megan Cup on the last day of the season.
Possessing the league’s most lethal striker (Gary Jo Owen) certainly helped them along the way to glory.
His 58 goal haul (for Caergybi and Valley) saw him beat his previous record of 57 he set for Morawelon back in 2013/14.
Captain Dewi Thomas was also vital to Dale Moffat’s side this year, as he netted 14 goals from midfield.
Attacker Glenn North bagged 14 (one of which may have been the divisions fastest ever – after just 7 seconds against Llandegfan) and the club’s Young Player of the Season Kurt Harris scored 13.
Llandegfan
Ryan Hughes – 8 goals

Jordan Love – 7 goals

Dale Rowlands – 5 goals

It was a really tough season for Llandeg as they returned to the Anglesey League after a four year absence.
They finished bottom of the table with just one win all season in the league. Despite that though, they still hit their fare share of goals.
Attacker Ryan Hughes was the main man up top in the end, claiming eight goals to his name. His mazy dribbling and long range shooting came in handy at times for the divisions basement side.
Player-manager Jordan Love, who captained the side on several occasions, closely followed behind Hughes with seven goals and netted some fine goals during the campaign.
Attacker Dale Rowlands was also a highly-committed and determined player within the squad and he ended his season with five goals.
Llangoed Reserves
Arwyn Morris – 17 goals

Phil Owen – 5 goals

One man stood out for the Reserves early on during 2017/18 – striker Arwyn Morris.
His 17 goal haul was unsurprisingly enough to catch the eye of Llangoed’s first team and he eventually made the step up to that squad midway through the season.
That left the likes of midfielder Phil Owen (5 goals) and several other players such as Martin Byast, Mitchell Jones and Jay Finter to pick up the pieces in terms of goals.
Many of the Reserves squad have hit one or two goals each this season and I brink that goes to show how unselfish they’ve been as a team at times.
Mynydd Tigers
Herbie Hofsteede – 32 goals

Kieron Bullock – 18 goals

Ciaran O’Brady – 17 goals

The Tigers surprised many by clinching the title from the clutches of Bryngwran Bulls on the final day of the season.
I’m what’s been a truly fantastic debut Anglesey League campaign for Mark Hughes side, it was talented youngster Herbie Hofsteede who came out on top in terms of goals.
The former Caernarfon Town youth player bagged 32 goals and proved what a gifted player he is with his passing, vision and finishing from midfield.
17-year-old Kieron Bullock followed behind him with 18 goals. The versatile player had played in position all over the pitch this season and was a real stand out star for the champions.
Irish winger Ciaran O’Brady was the club’s third top scorer with 17 goals. His skills, pace and confidence on the ball saw him receive praise from many players, fans and managers of the league this season.
Pentraeth Reserves
Jack Diamond – 10 goals

Jon Morton – 7 goals

Not a highly memorable season for the Reserves this year, but nevertheless, they did have their moments.
Striker Jack Diamond was the star man in Justin Gallagher’s side – being the only player to reach double figures.
Fellow attacker Jon Morton was not far behind him though as he hit 7 goals during the campaign.
Elsewhere, winger Danny Roberts and midfielder Tom Adamek also added heir fair share of goals too.
Valley
Justin Williams – 36 goals

Mike Williams – 30 goals

Konner Druce – 23 goals

After having a high-flying start to the season and being top of the table at Christmas, Valley seemed to slip away in the second half of the campaign.
Striker Justin Williams was consistently brilliant throughout however and his sparkling form saw him reach 36 goals come the end of the season.
Tall strike partner Mike Williams was also influential as his physical presence up top saw him reach the 30 goal mark.
Winger Konner Druce, who had moved to the club from Caergybi, hit a total of 23 goals for both sides and was one of the best wide men in the division this year.
