A SPIRITED comeback from Caergybi FC last night saw them finally win some well-deserved silverware.

In what was officially the final game of the 2017/18 Kon-X Anglesey League campaign, Dale Moffat’s side came from 1-0 and 2-1 down to beat Bryngwran Bulls 3-2 and win The Megan Cup at Llanfairpwll FC’s Maes Eilian ground.

After falling to a 6-4 defeat to Arriva Bangor in the Car Boot Trophy final on Monday night, Cybi had to be at their very best to bounce back and clinch the cup in this one.

Janes Ryan had initially put Richard Owen’s Bulls ahead via his 54th goal of the season, but Caergybi winger Glenn North brought his side back into the game (below) not long after.

The Bulls weren’t going down without a fight however and were back in front courtesy of a goal from striker Nathan Lewis (above). Caergybi then battled hard to find their second equaliser of the game which eventually came thanks to midfielder Luke McKittrick.

Cybi began to create more and more chances and so it was no surprise that it was them who eventually grabbed the winner.

As with so many other times this season, it was talismanic striker Gary Jo Owenwho gave his side the win in the end, notching up his 58th goal of the season (a personal record) and finishing as the league’s top scorer in the process.

There was no doubt a sense of relief as much as there was happiness as the full time whistle blew as Caergybi finally earned themselves a well-earned trophy to cap off a memorable season.

Man of the Match for the final was Cybi goalkeeper Kieran Weeks who made some outstanding saves to help his side get the victory.

After the match, manager Dale Moffat praised his side for a “committed performance”.

“We battled to the end against a strong Bryngwran side,” he said.

“This win marks a brilliant end to our first season in the Anglesey League”.
