ANOTHER weekend gone means another weekend of Kon-X Anglesey League football has taken place.
Mynydd Tigers were looking to bounce back from their humiliating defeat to Byrngwran Bulls last weekend in a top of the table clash with Caergybi, whilst Pentraeth Reserves and Llandegfan were looking to pick up their first wins of the season.
A thrilling Saturday afternoon of football took place and there were many changes to the way the table looked by the end of it.

Bodorgan 0-5 Llangoed & District Reserves
Arwyn Morris was the hero once again as he put in a stunning performance, hitting all five goals in Llangoed and District Reserves’ convincing triumph over a poor Bodorgan side.
The prolific forward made it eight goals in just two matches as he followed up his hat-trick in the 3-2 win at Llandegfan last week with five at Cae Cob as Bodorgan never really looked like getting going.
Bodorgan will head into their home fixture against Pentraeth Reserves next week with added pressure on their shoulders as they have lost their opening four fixtures. That tie could be a crucial one, as both sides are yet to win in the league.
Llangoed on the other hand are on a roll and have moved up to fifth place in the table, having won their past two matches. They now face a strong Caergybi side at home next week and on this display, they might just fancy their chances of causing an upset, especially if Morris continues his scintillating form.
Bryngwran Bulls 4–2 Arriva Bangor FC
Bryngwran Bulls continued their good start to the season with a hard fought win over newcomers Arriva Bangor.
The Bulls took a lead with just four minutes gone as captain Andrew Bailey fired home. The home side doubled their advantage on 15 minutes as a great ball from John Earnshaw was parried into the back of the net by Arriva’s goalkeeper.
The visitors pulled one back on 37 minutes as Scott Hughes pounced to score a header at the far post after stand in Bulls keeper Arwyn Williams had produced a good save.
However, on the stroke of half time, talismanic forward Jamie Ryan grabbed his seventh goal of the season and put Bryngwran 3-1 up, firing home a left footed thunderbolt from a tight angle.
The Bulls missed three great chances to put the game to bed early on in the second half and Arriva again piled the pressure on by making it 3-2 courtesy of a Chris Camilleri goal in the 78th minute.
It could have been a whole different story for the away side as they had two goals ruled out. One for offside and the other was a bizarre incident which saw a goal scored after an assist by one of the Arriva supporters who kicked the ball in play as it went out for a throw in and all the Bulls players had stood still.
A very nervy finish to the game ensued, but it was the home side who wrapped up the three points with around five minutes left. Jamie Ryan was the scorer once again as he put the ball in the net following a fine ball which was played in to him by Bulls substitute Ryan Hughes.
Five wins from their first six matches puts the Bulls a point off the top with a game in hand. Arriva have lost their first two matches, but certainly gave the far more experienced Bulls side a game to remember.
Mynydd Tigers 2-1 Caergybi
Mynydd Tigers bounced back from their humiliating 6-2 loss to Bryngwran last week to beat a Caergybi side who were on a roll prior to this match.
The home side took the lead on 15 minutes when the talented Herbie Hofsteede scored a goal on the counter attack.
Moments later however Caergybi were level as Konner Druce weaved his way through the Tigers’ defence and goalkeeper to pass the ball into the back of the net. He nearly put the away side 2-1 up just minutes after but the linesman’s flag was up to deny him the chance.
Just as it seemed as though the teams were going into half time level, Tigers’ skipper Mike Williams headed a goal just inside the right hand post from a corner kick to give the home side the advantage.
The Tigers went close to adding a third goal on a few occasions in the second half, but in the end they held on to their one goal advantage to secure the three points.
Both teams battled hard throughout, but Mynydd dug in to protect their lead, which will no doubt have been very frustrating for the Caergybi players who knew they were capable of a better performance.
Pentraeth Reserves 2-3 Llandegfan
The biggest shock of the weekend came as bottom of the table side Llandegfan pulled off a stunning victory at Pentraeth Reserves.
The visitors took the lead on 20 minutes after player-manager Jordan Love headed in a beautifully weighted ball in by Sion Thomas. They held onto the lead until half time thanks to some determined defending.
In the second half however Pentraeth pliled the pressure onto the Llandegfan defence and eventually equalised through a Danny Roberts goal before continuing to push for another.
However, Llandegfan’s persistence was key and they were back in front once more not long after Pentraeth’s goal as striker Dale Rowlands raced through to slot home a neat finish.
Pentraeth refused to lie down however and just moments later they were level again as Rob Barker grabbed his first ever goal for the club. 2-2 and this game was becoming a real end to end spectacle.
Just as it looked as though both sides had settled for a draw, Jordan Love was at it again as he struck a superb shot into the back of the net in the dying moments of the match to secure a vital three points for Llandegfan.
Both sides put in a shift in what turned out to be a thrilling encounter. Pentraeth’s stand in keeper, James Hall, has to be commended for doing his best between the sticks, as he is not usually a goalkeeper but kept his side in it on occasions.
Llandegfan goalkeeper Hywel Hughes was also particularly impressive on the day, denying many a Pentraeth effort with some fine saves.
After the match, Pentraeth Reserves manager Justin Gallagher said: “As disappointed as I am with our performance, I want to congratulate Llandegfan on their win.
“A lot of teams and players would have jacked it in with some of their previous scores, but credit to them for keeping at it and carrying on, and I congratulate them on their win today.”
The visitors simply wanted it more on the day and you can see that this Llandegfan side are improving week on week as they stick to a regular starting eleven and move to sixth in the table. Pentraeth Reserves will be disappointed by their defensive errors in this encounter, but will fancy their chances of bouncing back against strugglers Bodorgan next week.
