20 of the best EPL transfers of the summer window.

The 2016/17 Premier League season looks like being one of the best campaigns in many years with lots of big names being bought in or changing clubs. So, (In no particular order) here are AFEfootballnews’ top 15 Premier League transfers of the summer transfer window that really could pay off.

1. Zlatan Ibrahimovic (PSG to Manchester United)

Let’s be honest, love him or hate him, the man is a genius on the field and the fact that United got him on a free transfer is wonderful news for the club. 2 goals in 3 games already this season and there will no doubt be more to come from Zlatan as he looks to prove that he can perform in England.

2. Granit Xhaka (Borussia Monchengladbach to Arsenal)

The ex Monchengladbach captain was incredible for them last season, even earning a place for himself in the Bundesliga team of the season. Arsenal have now snapped him up for around £32 million and it looks as though the 23 year old from Switzerland could be the missing piece in the puzzle for the Gunners.

3. Sadio Mane (Southampton to Liverpool)

Liverpool payed a hefty price tag (£34 million) to bring the Senegalese winger in from Southampton back in July but he could be a very decent signing for them. He scored on his debut for the club in the 4-3 win over Arsenal in the opening game of the season and looks as though he could form a deadly trio with Coutinho and Firmino.

4. Michy Batshuayi (Marseille to Chelsea)

Many thought that this would be a risky signing by the Blues but the critics are already being proved wrong by the young Belgian forward. 2 goals and 2 assists already has made people all over the country take notice of him and he could turn out to be be a vital player at Stamford Bridge this season.

5. Sofiane Boufal (Lille to Southampton)

Not many will have heard of the young Moroccan before his move to St. Mary’s, but fans of French football will know exactly what he’s capable of. A tricky little attacking midfielders, who can also play on the wing, Boufal is certainly one to keep an eye on this season.

6. Nacer Chadli (Spurs to West Brom)

After becoming a forgotten man at White Hart Lane, the Belgian winger is being offered a new lease of life by the Baggies after they secured his signature in a club record deal. There’s no doubt that he has the potential to be a star player for them and could be the difference between them going down or staying up this season.

7. Steven Defour (Anderlecht to Burnley)

This is one of the most impressive and surprising signings of the window in my opinion. Defour has vast experience playing in Belgium and Portugal and is a regular in Belgiums international set up too. He’ll be the man to run things in midfield for the Clarets this season and will play an important role in helping them survive in the league.

8. Paul Pogba (Juventus to Manchester United)

The world most expensive player thanks to this move. If all goes to plan then it will turn out to be a very good one indeed. Four years after his departure from Old Trafford, Pogba is back and looking to prove everyone (here’s looking at you Sir Alex) wrong. There’s no doubting his class and hopefully he’ll show everyone just what he can do in the best league in the world.

9. Shkodran Mustafi (Valencia to Arsenal)

A world class defender at Arsenal at last. Mustafi was a product of Everton’s youth system but left in 2012 after failing to make an impact. Now after playing in Italy and Spain and winning the World Cup he’s back in England and classed as one of the best defenders in the world. Arsenal fans are right to be excited by this signing!

10. Victor Janssen (AZ Aalkmar to Spurs)

A class act in Eredivisie, Janssen will follow in the footsteps of Luis Suarez and Robin Van Persie by making a move to England. He’ll be looking to compete with Harry Kane for a starting place up front at Spurs. A prolific scorer with an eye for goal, he could be a real threat potentially.

11. Steve Mandanda (Marseille to Crystal  Palace)

Another surprise signing, as arguably he could play for any Premier League team due to the fact that he’s a world class Goalkeeper. Palace will be pleased by the fact that they’ve managed to bring in a big name and will be hoping that he can get them a clean sheet or two this season.

12. Simone Zaza (Juventus to West Ham)

Everyone will probably forever remember Zaza for his comical penalty miss in Italy’s shootout loss to Germany at the Euro’s, but truth is, he’s actually a decent player on his day. A cool finisher, he’ll add more firepower to the Hammers attack this seas one.

13. Alvaro Negredo (Valenica to Middlesbrough) LOAN

“The beast” is back and looking to impress again. Formerly of Manchester City, who he won the Premier League with, Negredo is a highly respected striker in his homeland of Spain and is highly expected to score a few goals for Boro.

14. Ilkay Gundogan (Borussia Dortmund to Manchester City)

Currently injured, but once he’s recovered there’s no doubt that the German central midfielder could play a key role in city’s title push. Gifted in both attacking and defensive abilities, Gundogan is another great signing bought in from the Bundesliga.

15. N’Golo Kante (Leicester to Chelsea)

After being one of the surprise stars of last seasons champions Leicester, there will no doubt be pressure on Kante’s back to perform well again this year. So far he’s fitted in effortlessly at Stamford Bridge and he’ll more than likely turn out to be a fantastic signing for the Blues.

16. Christian Benteke (Liverpool to Crystal Palace)

Aiming to resurrect his career after a torrid time at Liverpool, Benteke will be hoping that his time at Palace can be a fresh start for him. He was prolific during his time at Villa, so if he can find that form again then Palace could have a decent season.

17. Ahmed Musa (CSKA Moscow to Leicester)

One of the paciest players around, Musa could give any defender a real horrible time on his day. He became Leicester’s record signing when he arrived from CSKA and the fans will be hoping that he lives up to the price tag.

18. Ashley Williams (Swansea to Everton)

Wales captain Williams has finally called time on his decade of playing for the Swans and made the move to Merseyside. Everton moved quickly to replace John Stones when he left for City and there’s no doubt that Williams will be more than a suitable replacement as he’s one of the most reliable and experienced defenders in the league today.

19. Eric Bailly (Villarreal to Manchester United)

What a class defender he’s looked like being so far. The Ivorian raised many eyebrows when he was bought from Villareal for £40 mil at the start of the transfer window, but now looks as though he could more than pay back that massive transfer sum. United have lacked a solid CB since Ferdinand and Vidic but in Bailly they may finally have one now.

20. Nolito (Celta Vigo to Manchester City)

A highly underrated player and a shrewd signing from Guardiola, the winger impressed for Spain at the Euro’s and should be used regularly at the Etihad as Samir Nasri will be sent out in loan. A tricky winger with an eye for goal, keep an eye out for him this season.
